Chris,
I meant that plug-in authors are typically excited and will likely think that they deserve the award, but would rather not be patting themselves on their own backs (which is one of the great benefits of having such awards - the external recognition). Until your posting, I assumed the nomination process was trivial and therefore did not read it.

I do see the need for the details asked in the nomination form - but instead of 'vendors may nominate their own products' I was arguing for 'vendors should nominate their own products if they deserve it' .

Vineet

thanks Vineet, I fixed it.

I agree, however, some plug-in authors aren't aware of EclipseCon and the point I'm trying to make is to tell them about it. If their users are excited about their work, that will excite the plug-in authors.

After noticing that you said that you contacted the authors, I just looked at the nominations requirements, and realized that the nominations actually require a decent bit of information/work. So much so, that the nominations will typically be self-nominations. As a plugin author I would like one of our users to nominate our work - if they think it is worthy - and until now was hoping for that to be the case.

I think the message for nomination should be different, it will likely be more fruitful to be targeted (and worded) towards plugin authors to nominate their own work.

Vineet

PS: The subject says EclipseCon, but should be 'Eclipse Technology Awards'.
