I think my blog entry "<a HREF="http://michaelscharf.blogspot.com/2006/01/when-seamless-integration-becomes.html" REL="nofollow">When seamless integration becomes a nightmare...</a>" is more relevant than ever....<br/><br/>Eclipse makes it very hard to create a <a HREF="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_model" REL="nofollow">mental model</a> of all the plug-ins and features. <br/><br/>The welcome page is a good starting point. But eclipse needs something like a <a HREF="http://www.eclipse.org/mylyn/" REL="nofollow">Mylyn</a> for the UI: a way to focus on a particular task and hide or deemphasise irrelevant UI elements....<br/><br/>Michael I’m not a typical user, but I installed everything and it is overwhelming. Eclipse makes it very hard to create a mental model of all the plug-ins and features.

The welcome page is a good starting point. But eclipse needs something like a Mylyn for the UI: a way to focus on a particular task and hide or deemphasise irrelevant UI elements….
