Fair and Balanced @ JavaOne

I just noticed that at JavaOne, there will be a “fair and balanced” Eclipse RCP versus the Netbeans Platform talk given by Kai Toedter from Siemens and Geertjan Wielenga from Sun.

I’m not one to say anything… but is this really fair and balanced? Wouldn’t it be better to have Kai moderate and maybe have someone like Wayne Beaton represent Eclipse …and Geertjan represent Netbeans?

    Hi Chris,

Actually I asked Wayne if he would like to join the BOF, but unfortunately he has to leave the day before… But don’t worry 🙂

On top of that, Kai and I agree that both Eclipse RCP and NetBeans Platform are cool. So, it won’t be a shoot out, it won’t be a competition, because we think both are cool. There’s certainly room for both. 🙂

I understand Kai, we can now defect the blame to Wayne 😛

Geertjan, that’s fair, but usually it’s nice to have people from independent backgrounds 🙂

I’m looking forward to it, unfortunately I won’t be able to make the talk 🙁

Frankly, I think it’s great that someone not directly related to Eclipse RCP development, or the Eclipse Foundation, like Kai is there to represent Eclipse.

It’s actually Kai’s talk, he’s done it everywhere already, I’m just along for the ride. 🙂
