Keeping Users Happy via IRC

If you’re an Eclipse committer, contributor on enthusiast, I highly recommend checking out the Eclipse presence on IRC. We have quite a few project channels and more importantly, lots of people helping users on the #eclipse channel. It just takes a minute of your time to idle there and answer a question or two when you have time. You can even make a difference in someone’s development life in real-time:

So, give IRC a try and help liberate people 🙂

What is a really stupid-simple IRC client to use (and not a browser plugin)?

I am 0 for 3 with IRC clients on browsers, so I’m sure there has to be a “so simple an MBA can use it” client somewhere!

The most stupid simple option I think would be http://www.mibbit.com

You just use the browser, not even a plug-in.

The other option for clients would be Pidgin (http://pidgin.im/pidgin/home/) which has an IRC plug-in.

Most people I know use ChatZilla or ECF’s IRC client built into Eclipse.
