Ok, I couldn’t resist the headline, sometimes it’s too easy. VistA, the public record EHR and hospital management software created by the Veterans Administration, is switching to the Eclipse Public License (EPL). This is significant as it strengthens the EPL as a wise license to choose if you intend to be friendly to commercial entities and grow the open-source community with smart copyleft provisions.
This now marks two large organizations that I know that are using the EPL outside the Eclipse.org community (the other is the Symbian Foundation). Who’s next?
